Thanksgiving brings memories of my Wisconsin family gatherings, full of warmth and spirit inside, as cool quiet hints of winter begin to settle outside upon the hills and valleys of the Kettle Moraine. As part of that comes reflective piano solos and choral works.
Thanksgiving Piano Solos: Inspired by George Winston’s ‘December’, I put together some piano works that capture for me the reflective joy and gratitude during this time of year.
Thanksgiving Carols: In order to reclaim some music traditions for Thanksgiving from Christmas, I composed some Thanksgiving Carols. Hopefully one day these can become the familiar melodies of the Thanksgiving Season
These are draft choral versions of some Thanksgiving parlor music, prior to having it recorded with real voices. I'm trying to start a repertoire of traditional-like 'Thanksgiving Carols' - in essesence, I’m trying to reclaim Thanksgiving from an ever earlier-each-year Christmas.
